Exploring the massive grounds of Hogwarts Legacy often leads to side quests that reward curious players with unique gear and collectibles. One early side quest involves Arthur Plumly, a fellow student who provides a mysterious sketch leading to hidden treasure. Completing Cache in the Castle requires decrypting the visual clues on Arthur's map to find the secret location within the school grounds.
Starting the Cache in the Castle Quest
To begin this quest, speak with Arthur Plumly outside the Astronomy Wing in Hogwarts Castle. He will give you a piece of parchment displaying three distinct landmarks drawn in ink. Your task is to track down each location in sequence to uncover the final prize hidden behind a secret door.

Locating the Rhinoceros Skeleton
The first landmark shown on Arthur's treasure map is a large rhinoceros skeleton display. From Arthur's location, head down toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower. Descend the stairs until you reach the ground level where the massive creature's remains are on display.
Approaching the skeleton triggers a dialogue cue from Alohomora-learning students or your character confirming you are on the right path. Once verified, look at the map for the second drawing, which points toward a courtyard fountain.
Finding the Dragon Fountain in the Courtyard
From the rhinoceros skeleton, walk out into the Transfiguration Courtyard nearby. Look toward the center of the open courtyard to find a prominent stone fountain featuring a dragon motif. This matches the second sketch depicted on Arthur's treasure map.
Pass by the fountain and proceed toward the large wooden double doors leading back inside the castle complex. Head up the stairs directly past the entrance to find the final landmark drawn on the parchment.
Solving the Painting Puzzle
At the top of the staircase, you will encounter a large painted canvas depicting a snowy landscape and a doorway. Cast the Accio spell on the handle at the top of the painting frame. Pulling the handle opens a hidden secret doorway built directly into the wall structure behind the canvas.
Behind the painting, you will discover a treasure chest containing the Historian's Uniform handle cosmetic item. Open the chest to secure your reward and complete the map exploration requirement for the quest.
Returning to Arthur Plumly
With the treasure collected, make your way back to the Astronomy Wing where Arthur is waiting. Speak with him to report your findings and finish the side quest. Completing the mission awards experience points and adds a permanent cosmetic appearance to your gear collection.
